Rehabilitation of Under Privileged Children @ Bangalore

Sparsha Trust, established in 2005, is an organization which rehabilitees children of immigrant workers & displaced orphans; which include rag pickers, beggars, single parent children, drug addicts etc. These children are being sheltered, fed, clothed and educated at Sparsha.

Sparsha is managed by, a very committed and dedicated team. lt had ten shelters which have now been reduced to five due to withdrawal of Government support. However, this did not dishearten the trustees as they have absorbed all the children and have accommodated them in five shelters. lt currently houses almost 200 children, with one shelter exclusively for girls.

Here, the children up to the age of 18 are relocated and housed. They are then put through a bridging school for 6 to 8 months when they are taught to the level based on age and ability. They are then enrolled in government schools.

Apart from formal education, they impart knowledge through number of other programmes; they are also given vocational training, and are exposed to hobbies like reading, writing and experiments in science etc. (for details see web site www.sparsha.org)

Over the last 8 years they have sheltered 1825 children and brought 1025 into the mainstream which is a great service by a tiny organisation.
